I'm bugged!
One thing that I have noticed since moving to Utah is that there are few gentleman living in this state. I grew up in Texas (and yes, I do have Texas pride) where men are true gentlemen! My dad still gets my door and luckily I was able to find one of the few gentlemen who grew up in Utah. I thank his parents for that! I don't understand why there are so few gentlemen these days...
I ride the train to work and usually my friend and I are able to find a seat, but today it was full. I looked around and noticed that ALL the men were sitting and several women were standing. Maybe it's my hormones due to pregnancy, but it really bugged me! I started talking to my friend and made the comment that if we were in Texas, every man would stand up and offer his seat! She laughed and didn't think anything of it. Her boyfriend never gets her door or offers a hand, and once I mentioned it to her, she realized that he didn't do that. Even when I was dating (I got married late for the "Utah" standard), I always made sure that the guy got my door, even if it was just a guy friend. ALWAYS!!! I thank my father who set the example of what a gentleman is and should be!
Shame on those Utah boys! I'm a lady (call me old-fashioned) and I like being treated like one!

It is a good thing that you will be teaching your children the things they need to know as far as common courtesy and respect. Just to give some of those men a little excuse - during the feminist revolution if they had offered their seat to a woman they probably would have been berated. Very sad but true that they still could be today. Sometimes women aren't very ladylike either. It is a double edged sword! So glad that you were raised to be a lady!
Love you,
Aunt Cathy
I feel like you do--I wish there were more gentlemen in society today. I will be teaching my son to be one, that's for sure!

Amen! I'm glad that Bill was raised that way, too.
