I got a TURKEY!

So my buddies and I have a tradition of going to a Turkey Shoot the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This is an event held by our local Lions Club Gun Range as a fundraiser for charity where you pay six bucks for a chance to win a full size turkey in a clay pigeon shooting contest. The best out of five shots wins, and the beauty of it is that there is no limit on how many rounds you can play (except the amount money you are willing to spend). We all compete against each other, and to be honest, I've never felt I was on the same playing level as the rest of my friends. These are guys who hunt and shoot guns on a regular basis, and I only do it at this event for the most part. But this year was feeling a little different for me..

We met up at 7am for breakfast and then headed up the canyon to the gun range. After waiting in line for almost two hours, I finally got my chance to prove my shooting skills. In my group were four other guys, and I was definitely not the most talented (at least in this area). To my great surprise, I hit four out of five targets and tied with one other guy for the lead. To break the tie, we had a shoot-off where the first person to miss, loses. We both missed the first one, hit the second one, and on the last one he missed and I hit it! I was thrilled, and my buddies were impressed how well I'd done against a more experienced shooter.

I suppose the downside to the story is that I didn't win any more rounds, but at least I won the first one! My reward was 14 pound turkey to be eaten at a later date. I called Patrice to tell her that I won a turkey, and that I was now confident that I can provide food for our family in the event of a disaster large enough that we will have to hunt for our own food.

Good Job, Dan! I am glad that you can now provide food for you and Patrice! That is really cool! I hope to see some photos or hear it from you with the movements! Oh yeah!

I am so proud of you Dan. Although, for the first part of the e-mail, I thought it was Patrice talking. This has taken a huge burden off my shoulders just knowing that you both won't ever starve.
