Texas Memories

We just returned from a great time in Texas and had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a blast visiting family, eating some good ol' Texas BBQ, and found some great deals shopping. And let's not forget that the Cowboys won!!!
Dan was adventerous and got up early on "Black Friday" in search of some great deals, which naturally included several movies. Dan got up at 5:30 and headed for the stores. His goal was to find a portable DVD player, but he only came home with one movie. ONE movie. I was in shock. But I guess I do owe him a movie of his choice because he finally sat still for five minutes (he was all hopped up on caffeine, bouncing off the walls and wouldn't stop talking while we waited for the plane, so I bribed him to sit still). He said that the shopping experience was disappointing. I don't know what he expected.... shopping with the big hair ladies of Texas.
We went to Texas with my mom, who lived there her whole life until she moved to Utah ten years ago. All of her family still lives there and that's who we were visiting primarily. She was in heaven once we made our first stop to Alberstons to get her FAVORITE, Blue Bell Ice Cream. This is the one thing that she misses the most. My mom can live on ice cream and diet coke alone.
We spent Wednesday-Friday in Dallas, and then headed to East Texas on Friday-Saturday. We had a family reunion on Saturday with the extended family from my mom's side. It was a great seeing everyone. We will have to post some pictures later. My uncle smoked ribs, brisket, hamburgers, and sausage. It was so delicious. Oh, I miss the Texas BBQ. It was nice being in East Texas and seeing how the country folks live. It is beautiful country. When we had stopped to get gas, the cutest young man accidentally bumped into me and said, "sorry ma'am". I love the southern accent. Dan wishes I talked like that.
Even though Dan went shopping on Black Friday, we found the best deal online Saturday night. We found the camera that I have been coveting for months. Joyce (my sister in-law) has one that's similar and we found a great deal on it. We got the Canon SD Elph. Dan HATES our camera and has been wanting to get a new one (so have I now that I think about it). We found the camera for $149 online. I guess the moral of the story is, why get up so early, fight the crowds when you can shop online in the comforts of your own home. The internet is fab!
Thanks to all who made our trip so special. We love y'all! Happy Holidays!
PS. Thanks Dan for all the driving you did

Did you visit any of my family???? oh, wait... they "moved" to Utah as well.
I love blue bell ice cream. You can not be an official Texan unless you consume 1 gallon per year. I think that I probably need to refresh my citizenship. YUM.
I am glad that you had a nice time.
